One of the hallmarks of the Person-centred therapy services is that it views each individual of owning an innate tendency for change and personal growth. But, as with flowers, if we find ourselves in unfavorable conditions, our growth can become stunted, or molded by others into something that doesn’t fit with who we really are as a person.
That’s where I come in: To provide a more nurturing environment through fostering a warm, empathetic relationship in which you can feel safe to be free and Bloom with Grace. Like re-potting flower into fresh soil, with the right amount of light and water. With that, the flower has its own innate tendency to grow tall and strong. From this safe and secure base, we can begin to explore the external influences in your life, and begin to weed out those that are unhelpful, or which hold you back from achieving our full potential.
It is all too common for us to get stuck in our emotions left over from something in the past, or use more “acceptable” ones to cover the most helpful ones. I’ll help you pay closer attention to your emotions as they’re experienced in session. This includes looking closely at how they are felt in the body, using a focusing-orientated approach, in reach the important messages our emotions try to share with us: Such as what is important for us right now; what we need, or what action to take.
For me, it is important to take the time to really understand life as it is experienced uniquely by you. Meaning I don’t listen out for buzzwords like anxiety or depression, and presume to know what the answer will be. I appreciate that we all experience such challenges to our mental well-being differently, and aim to help you fully understand it for yourself so we can find the areas in life you find yourself feeling stuck in.
I offer a free 30 min consultation. This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other a little more. I’ll take some time to learn more about what you’re bringing to the sessions, and what you would like to get from therapy; as well as what some of your personal preferences for the way in which we work together might be, if any. For you, it’s an opportunity to ask questions about what’s on offer, my experience, or way of working; along with a chance to get a sense of what we’d be like working together.
Beyond the initial consultation, I offer individual sessions of 60mins based on a sliding scale. The scale is currently set between £15 and £45 per session. We will discuss what feels affordable to you based on your current circumstances.
Covid-19: At the moment, I am only able to offer online sessions via telephone or a video chat service such as Zoom or similar.
EMDR: Coming soon
I am soon to embark on a training course which will prepare me to deliver EMDR! This is a particularly useful approach for processing trauma. Keep an eye out on my blog for more details and information on EMDR, in the near future.
Trauma comes in many forms. Its impacts can be devastating and life-shattering to you, and those closet to you. No matter how long ago it happened, it leaves its mark and the body does not forget. My trauma-informed approach can help you understand trauma’s effects on our body, and begin managing the often overwhelming legacy left behind, through body-based grounding techniques. Check out the Resources & Signposting section to learn more about Trauma, as well as positive coping skills!
